Description

This Japanese inspired cooking class has our own wholefoods spin – our sushi and spring rolls are full of a rainbow of fresh vegetables, with some surprising combinations and a variety of dipping sauces to complement. Our sushi desserts are a surprisingly delicious addition to this year’s class and include coconut pandan rice, miso caramel and seared fruits.

In this class we will be teaching you the techniques to prepare and roll your own sushi and spring rolls, and giving you some yummy filling ideas and recipes. With this knowledge, you can then go on to create your own customized rolls at home with all your favourite ingredients!

Among the recipes in this class there are:

  • Classic sushi rice
  • Wakame seasoning
  • ‘Chicken’ schnitzel with teriyaki sauce
  • Shiitake mushroom sushi with avocado and kimchi
  • Sushi sandwich technique
  • Vegan mayo and variations
  • Seared tempeh in Peking plum sauce
  • Satay dipping sauce
  • Coconut pandan rice with mango and miso caramel
  • Sticky black rice with sweet black sesame, lemon syrup and seared strawberries
  • Lemon sushi roll with pineapple and pear
  • Matcha sushi with seared orange and lemon syrup

Cooking class details

  • This cooking class is hands on and you will get to roll your own sushi and spring rolls
  • Demos are provided of the recipes
  • Morning / afternoon tea and treats are provided upon arrival
  • Tea and coffee refills are provided during the class
  • Tastings of all the recipes are provided as we make them
  • The cooking class will last approximately 2.5 – 3 hours
